The Clerk and Recorder/Treasurer is a combined office. The Clerk and Recorder’s Office issues birth and death certificates and documents property transactions to help ensure homeowners obtain legitimate property rights.

The Treasurer’s Office bills and collects property taxes on behalf of all taxing jurisdictions within Missoula County, including the City of Missoula, schools and special districts. They can also assist with renewing your vehicle registration, transferring vehicle ownership, replacing misplaced titles, tags, or plates for your vehicle, and answering vehicle registration questions.

Notarization

Missoula County Clerk and Treasurer's Office clerks can notarize documents in-person. Missoula County accepts documents with technology based notarizations when they meet the legal requirements of the state in which the notarization is commissioned. To verify the validity of an electronic notarization, remote online notarization, or remote notarization, please consult the secretary of state's office or statute in the state where the notary resides.
