Engineering activities regulated by Missoula County Public Works include, but are not limited to:
- Excavation within public rights-of-way
- Construction testing and certification
- Storm drainage in zoned areas
- Subdivision submittal requirements
- Approaches in public rights-of-way
- Weight restrictions on county roads and bridges
- Addressing
Excavation & Approach Permits
Excavation permit applications require:
- Site plan showing areas of excavation
- Revegetation plan signed by the Dept. of Ecology and Extension
Approach permit applications require:
- Site plan showing entire property with access location and width
If the property requires access off a state highway, please call the Montana Department of Transportation to obtain an approach permit by calling them at 406-523-5800 or clicking here.
If planning to do work in or near a river or stream on public or private lands, a 310 permit must first be obtained through the Missoula Conservation District.
