Purpose

The Maternal Child Health Advisory Council (MCHAC) is charged to provide support to the Missoula City-County Board of Health for the purpose of promoting maternal and child health (MCH) in Missoula County.

Meetings - Open to the Public

Meetings of the Maternal Child Health Advisory Council are open to the public. Meetings are held bimonthly on the second Tuesday of the month from 12 p.m. (noon) to 1 p.m. The meetings are conducted in the Environmental Health Conference Room (Room 254) at the Missoula City-County Health Department, located at 301 West Alder.  The meeting date and time are subject to change or cancellation.

Members

The council consists of nine to 15 volunteer members. In keeping with the council's charge, individuals are sought who have expertise in areas related to maternal child health (MCH), such as nursing, nutrition, parenting, pediatrics, family practice, child protection, counseling and family development, as well as one representative nominated by the Missoula Indian Center, one parent who has used community MCH services, one student member and a staff member from the Missoula City-County Health Department.

Authorization

The charge for the Maternal Child Health Advisory Council was last revised and adopted by the Board of Health on April 29, 2010.
