COVID-19 Clerk & Treasurer Operations
We are currently CLOSED to public entrance.
As Montana begins to reopen from the COVID-19 pandemic, the Clerk & Treasurer's Office remains closed to public entrance. We continue to offer all our services online. The following duties were identified as priority duties of the Missoula County Clerk & Treasurer’s Office:
- E-recording & maintaining recorded documents
- Issuing temporary vehicle registrations
- Issuing vital records
- Issuing mobile home moving permits
While the above services receive first priority, we will continue to meet the needs of every customer. After addressing requests for the above services, we will focus on providing the following services:
Missoula County has delayed billing Mobile Home and Personal Property (Business Equipment) taxes until July 1st. Those taxes will not be due until the end of July. Real Estate tax deadlines are set under state law and may only be changed by the legislature or an executive order of the Governor acting under his emergency authority.
Please be advised that the Governor issued an order extending all Temporary Registration Permits issued after the emergency declaration for 90 days. These Temporary Registration Permits are automatically extended by 90 days from the date listed on the permit.

We appreciate your patience while we adjust to these ever-changing circumstances. We are currently planning a phased re-opening to the public. We will enter the first phase of public re-opening when protective equipment has been installed in our office. At that time, we will open to the public on an appointment only basis. We will ask that anyone that is able to complete their transaction online do so, in order to save appointment slots for those that are unable to complete their transaction online. In other words, if you are reading this website, we will continue to ask you to complete your transaction online.
Credit Card Transaction Fees
The Missoula County Commissioners have resolved to absorb credit card processing fees for motor vehicle and property tax transactions under $3,000. These changes are automatic and are reflected on the payment screen for any payment.
Invoices e-mailed to you from the Missoula County Clerk & Treasurer's Office redirect you to an accessidaho.org domain. This is a valid invoice. We are utilizing a system developed by our payment processor for the State of Idaho.
