Departments across Missoula County implement a host of projects ranging from public infrastructure improvements to drafting new policy documents based on community input. The Communications and Projects staff identify, develop and implement projects that improve efficiency within the organization of Missoula County. Our office assists with implementing improvements to systems and processes used by County staff to help them save time and increase transparency for the public. With nearly 30 departments and more than 750 employees, affecting change within Missoula County takes time and attention our office is happy to provide.
  • Website

Website Redesign The website redesign and content management system implementation project began last year with a request for proposals from website vendors. Missoula County awarded the contract to Vision Internet and the project is in the home stretch. The launch of the County’s new website is just the beginning of the County’s concerted effort to emphasize communication with citizens and expand citizens’ knowledge of County services and initiatives. Be sure to check out our social media directory so you can follow along as we strive to demonstrate the value of the County’s work in your community.

  • Boards

Board Tracking and Recruitment Software Managing Missoula County boards, committees, districts and commissions takes a tremendous amount of staff time. Advertising for and recruiting new members, providing annual training, ensuring compliance with open meeting law, supporting boards in taking minutes and retaining records is all critically important for open and transparent government. The system the County has used to track this information is outdated and in desperate need of an overhaul. The development team in the County’s Technology department and the County’s project manager have teamed up to create a solution. The final result will be a database that’s more efficient to maintain and will automatically feed updated information to the County’s website. Launch of this project is anticipated by the end of 2015.

  • Agenda Management

Agenda Management County Communications and Projects department staff and Technology department staff are working on implementing an agenda management system for public meetings. Missoula County is currently overly reliant on paper systems and email communication and is making a concerted effort to move to a workflow based system for managing agendas and capturing meeting minutes. With the advent of a new agenda management system, you’ll be able to closely track meeting agendas through the website. You’ll be able to click on agenda items and read associated documentation of Commissioner actions and decisions. Our staff is also integrating our recording system with the agenda management system so you’ll be able to access and listen to specific points of public meetings. This project is ongoing and we hope to have these services available to you in early 2016.

  • ECMS

Electronic Content Management System (ECMS) Missoula County has worked for years to move to an electronic content management system (ECMS) but online permitting, website development, and other critical projects took center stage. With the launch of the new website and the necessary staffing in place, the ECMS project has risen to the top of the County’s technology to do list once again. ECMS will give County staff a more effective and organized system in which to manage their documents, photos and other content. More importantly, the ECMS project will provide the public a greater ability to view County documents online. The ECMS project is a large undertaking affecting every County department. Implementation is expected to take a year.
