Information to keep in mind while completing form:

  • You must provide your Montana driver's license or Montana ID number when you register. If you do not have a Montana driver's license, you will need to provide the last four digits of your Social Security number.  If you have neither number, you will need to provide another form of identification. Please contact the Elections Office to help you determine the acceptable form of identification you can provide.

  • You will need to provide a residence address or specific geographic location from which your residence address may be determined. The residence address must be in the county in which you are registering.

  • The deadline for regular registration is 30 days before any election. If you miss that deadline, you can still register and vote in the election by accessing the late registration services at the Missoula County Elections Center.

Late Registration

Montana is one of only a handful of states that allow late registration. Most states require a voter to register 30 days prior to an election to be eligible to vote. In Montana, one can register during that 29 day window or on Election Day.  However, due to high turnout, our office strongly urges everyone to be registered prior to Election Day. This will save the voter time and supports the process. Please note: the only time our office does not issue ballots is between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. the day before any election. This allows staff time to update materials needed by election judges working on Election Day.

Late registration occurs at the Missoula County Elections Center at 140 N Russell St.
