Missoula County received technical assistance from the New Mobility West program and the Montana Department of Transportation at no charge to the County to examine land uses, roadway designs, and market-feasible development opportunities along Highway 200 through East Missoula from Easy Street to the Speedway/Montana 200 intersection. East Missoula business owners, land owners, and community members developed a vision for a roadway design and land use, design options and future development potential in the Highway 200 corridor. The New Mobility West project is a partnership between Missoula County, the East Missoula Community Council, the New Mobility West program, and PUMA, a private sector planning and development consultant.
The East Missoula New Mobility West project area includes
the Highway 200 Corridor from Easy Street to Speedway Avenue
(area in between the gold stars).
Over 100 East Missoula Residents attended the design workshop and public meeting. Over 120 people responded to a survey about their ideas and preferences for future development within the Highway 200 corridor.
The vision, design opportunities, future development potential, funding options, and survey results are available in the final report.
Representatives from the East Missoula Community Council, Missoula County, City of Missoula, Montana Department of Transportation, and Mountain Line met to review crashes in East Missoula and discussed ways to improve the road to increase safety.
The Community Council, Missoula County, and the Montana Department of Transportation will work together to implement these solutions to improve traffic and pedestrian safety in East Missoula.
