Americans with Disabilities Act Notice
In accordance with Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Missoula County does not discriminate against qualified individuals with disabilities on the basis of disability in its services, programs, or activities.
All public buildings owned by Missoula County include accessible features for people with disabilities. If you need assistance to access any courthouse service, please call 406-258-4877. Missoula County staff are happy to provide auxiliary aids and services.
Missoula County complies with Title I of the ADA and does not discriminate on the basis of disability in its hiring or employment practices. We follow all regulations issued by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
Upon request, the County will provide appropriate aids and services to ensure effective communication for individuals with disabilities. This may include:
- Qualified sign language interpreters
- Documents in Braille or large print
- Audio formats or visual supports
- Other methods as needed for individuals with speech, hearing, or vision impairments
The county also provides translation services for individuals with limited English proficiency.
The County will make reasonable modifications to policies and procedures to ensure equal access. For example, service animals are welcome in County offices, even where pets are generally not allowed.
Grievance Procedure
If you believe that a Missoula County program, service, or facility is not accessible to individuals with disabilities or you have experienced discrimination, you may file a grievance under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Grievances may be submitted by email or mail. This helps us maintain a clear record of your concern and respond in a timely manner. Grievances should be submitted within 60 calendar days of the incident.
Note: Missoula County will not place a surcharge on individuals with disabilities to cover the cost of the accommodation or modification. The ADA does not require actions that would fundamentally alter programs or impose undue financial or administrative burden.
Grievances should be submitted in writing, and include the following information:
- Your name, address, phone number, and email (if available)
- Mailing address (optional)
- The date and location of the issue
