Fingerprint Services

Fingerprint services, by appointment only, are offered on Tuesday-Thursday, from 1:00p.m. to 4:00p.m. and can be scheduled online or by calling 406-258-4810. Photo ID required. Cost is $15.00 for the first fingerprint card and $5.00 for each additional card. Payment can be made with cash, check or credit/debit card.    

Civil Process

Our Civil Office processes legal and non-judiciary papers for service within the boundaries of Missoula County by Missoula County Sheriff’s Office Deputies. Examples include:

  • Orders of Protection
  • Evictions
  • Civil Suits
  • Levies
  • Subpoenas
  • Court filed dissolution of marriage and/or parenting plans including child support
  • Sheriff’s Sales

Fees for services are expected prior to processing any paperwork, except Orders of Protection which are exempt from all fees for service. Civil Processing fees can be found here.

Records and Information Requests

Our office maintains and disseminates various types of records, including, but not limited to:

  • Initial Offense Report
  • Insurance Reports
  • Booking History

Releasing of some records carries a fee. We accept the following forms of payment:

  • Checks (made payable to Missoula County Sheriff’s Office)
  • Money Orders (made payable to Missoula County Sheriff’s Office)
  • Cash (in-person only)
  • Credit/Debit Card (additional fees apply)

*Note - The Missoula County Sheriff’s Office can only disseminate records that originate from our agency. A statewide check can be made by contacting the Montana State Identification Bureau in Helena: (406) 444-3625.

Case Reports are considered Confidential Criminal Justice Information and must be requested through the County Attorney’s Office. Contact the Missoula County Attorney for more information.

Requests for Coroner reports must be approved by the Chief Deputy Coroner prior to dissemination. Submit a request in person or via email directly to the Sheriff’s Office at [email protected].

Criminal justice agencies can submit a request for Confidential Criminal Justice Information directly to our records department at [email protected].

Initial Offense Report and Insurance Reports

As outlined in Administrative Rule of Montana 23.12.203, Initial Offense Reports are available to the public upon request. 

Insurance reports include Victim and Property information only and are used for insurance purposes (this does not include motor vehicle accidents, see “Accident Report” below).

Booking History 

A person’s local Booking History will only be released to that individual (copy of Identification must be included with request) or to a third party with a Release of Information form attached.

Media requests for copies of Initial Offense Reports must be submitted online.

The Sheriff’s Office does not investigate Accidents. While deputies may respond to assist, Highway Patrol is the primary investigative agency for all Motor Vehicle Accidents outside the city limits. Please contact Highway Patrol for further information.

 

Warrants and Extraditions

Our Warrants Office is tasked with processing and maintaining court issued warrants in local and national databases. Contact with our Warrants office is restricted to Government and Criminal Justice Agencies only.  Missoula County Sheriff’s Warrants will not answer questions from the public regarding warrants.
